biology. male.
when my daughter was nine months old, i found out i was pregnant again. i was so excited thinking she could have a little sister almost her twin! i never had a sister and i imagined it must be a wonderful thing. i was actually shocked at my four month sonogram when a certain boy part was discovered. i was having a what?? how was my daughter going to handle this news? no sister!? but the look on my husband's face when he heard he was going to have a son, well, i guess it made me glad too. and then i found out how truly wonderful little boys are. and now i can't believe how glad i am he ISN'T a girl. i know some of you moms out there know what i mean :)
my daughter and my son have been growing up as best friends. she really didn't need a sister afterall. besides, when she wants one, sometimes he is even game.
**i am going to get in so much trouble for this picture. so it will only be here for a brief time :)

bethy, i'm laughing inside. we have one of those pictures too! my daughter is 2 1/2 years older than my son but they both liked the lillian vernon dress up box my daughter got for christmas. he came away unscathed, he is now 19.
a future Renaissance man for sure!
LOVE IT!!! Your daughter will find many, many uses for that photo as your son gets older! LOL! My daughter used to dress her younger brother up in her white and pink nightgown and put his hair up on top of his head like Pebbles Flintstone. Now he is a senior in hs and I have threatened to put that photo in the yearbook in his "senior ad". Priceless!
I'm laughing too! as I too have a pic like that, pink tutu and lipstick! My daughter was 3 months old when I found out I was expecting....again! So Jacquelyn and Jake are 12 months apart. And they grew up the very best of friends. And now at the ages of 20 and 19 yrs old, they are still the very best of friends!
I love this photo! My g'kiddos, Gabi and Drew are 15 months apart. He'll be two in January. He would do this for his big sis, too! In fact, he has!
Sweet post!

That is too funny! When my first born was a son I wondered what I would do with all those cute little dresses I bought. One day just for fun I dressed him up in one. I sure wish I had taken a picture!
Oh how he will treasure that photo! I have one or two of my own little brother that are similar in nature, that's the good stuff. :)
that is priceless.
your feelings about finding out it was a boy sound exactly like my experience! but i wouldn't change it for the world...no one tells you how those boys capture your heart like they do!
What a great picture! I love that he looks so happy & content with the girls. My daughter tries to dress up the dog---good thing she doesn't have a brother!
P.S. I love your blog! If you started a home consulting/decorating business PLEASE let us know. I would hire you in a heartbeat. I'm in a rut after moving into our first house 2 years ago with a baby (now toddler) and need some guidance.
You know, at first glance I didn't even see him! Way too cute!
That is sooooo cute! I have all sisters and when we played with the girls down the street, we would always make their little brother dress up in old dance show costumes if that's what we were doing. I think it's de rigueur for any boy that has sisters!
I am so glad my girls have each other...but, the brother/sister relationship is so special. I don't have a sister either...my brother is the funniest person I have ever met....no matter what he does...I laugh like a little girl!
That picture made me laugh...I have one of my brother dressed in my mom's clothes when we were little!
He'll love that in about 15 years!!!
When I look at those faces starting from the left I see Jen's husband, your husband, Jen and you.
Cute photo. It's great that they all such good friends.
Hahaha! I love it!
oh i am very hysterically laughing. I FREAKING LOVE IT! and, yes, we mom's with sons know EXACTLY what you mean! ain't nothin' like havin' a boy! ain't nothin' like it!
This is just too adorable. Dont worry, he'll be fine. :)
Too adorable!!! I am sure he will protect her always.
OH Beth... we have the same exact situation here!!! My kids are just older. My daughter is only 15 months older than my son and we have a picture of him dressed in a fairy costume! He justs laughs about it now. I thought for sure that I'd have another girl too, growing up in a family of three girls, but no-- my husband cried at the birth because we chose not to find out!! He was so happy! And I am too. I knew nothing about boys but Nathaniel teaches me something almost daily. And I wouldn't trade him for the world! My daughter resorts to cousins for her "sister" fix!

My daughter and son are 3 1/2 years apart and they have always been best friends... and I love that !!!
Even now at 16 and 19 they adore each other and have never had a fight.
I never had a brother, only 2 sisters and now I wish I had grown up with a boy in the house !!!
Your kids are very lucky that they have each other !!!
I LOVE this!!!

little boys love their mommies! My daughter will also get her brother to dress up and put on makeup... it's slightly disturbing to me... but hey what ever!
That is the most adorable picture of a little boy I have ever seen!!!
It reminds me of how I used to make my little brother play house with me. I dubbed him "Carol" and would head over to his "house" to have coffee!!
Thanks for the memory...truly adorable children!!!
Linda
I have two step kids they are 18 and 17. I have been married for 11 years, four years later we have my son Griffin. My step daughter takes various pictures of him after she has done his hair with hair clip, scarves etc. and jewelry, those poor boys. I enjoyed visiting your site.

Ohhh!!!
Hold on to this one to show future girlfriends! LOL LOL
We actually have a photo of when my 3 oldest boys were like 4,3 and 2. We were in CA at the time and I served them lunch at their little orange and yellow plastic picnic table in the back yard. When I went inside to get their drinks, they were clothed. When I came out, they had, ummmm, relaxed the dress code quite a bit...as in clothing optional! I ran for the camera and got the greatest shot which I had enlarged and framed! LOL
I have enjoyed visiting your blog!
God bless.
Terri
Too cute!!!

LOL! Cute picture and he is a good sport who loves his sister.
Oh Bethy...this gave me such a smile!
OH how your daughter will love this picture when she is older! I had a little brother when I was 10. I have the best photos of him in wigs and hats and dresses...my friends and I used to use him as our own personal baby doll. He is pretty unscathed now, at 40!
Your children are adorable!
Hugs,
Sue
