Bethy,
I cannot begin to imagine what countless students, parents and alumni must be going through today. We will be thinking of you.

Did not know of this news. -sigh-

But my first thought is.... if only some citizen there, had been trained, and could carry a gun... they could have ended this shooter, well before he did all that he did.

With no law abiding citizen armed... With no one able to respond... They all were totally vulnerable. Totally vulnerable.

It is so sad. I am so sorry this had to happen at a place that was your home for a time. It must really hit hard.

This is such a horrible act. I just don't know what would make a person commit such a horrific act of violence. Prayers to all the victims.

My heart and prayers go out to those who lost a loved one and those students, faculty, and staff that must return to those buildings and the horrific memories they hold.

I am so saddened and sickened about this tragedy. I live 30 minutes north of VA Tech and the local outpouring of sympathy and support is so encouraging.

I keep thinking of how many people are affected....the victims, the hundreds of family and friends of the victims, the thousands of students on campus now, the hundreds of thousands of alumni (like yourself), the millions of all the rest of us who wring our hands, not knowing what to do. It's unspeakable.

Ugh. This is so sad. I tried to talk to my students about this today, but where to begin? Such a terrible shame.
