ready for breakfast
well, in a sunny side up sort of way! i still need to paint the bottom :) someone asked me how i can paint a table so quickly, do i sand? the answer is, yes, but only sometimes. i do not paint like those people on home television shows that make this a twelve step process. i've got carpool! and i like things done yesterday...so i work with a need-based system. which means, sometimes i paint backwards. my first step - slap on the paint. i only use primer if i must, and this piece didn't seem to need it. so after i paint a coat, if i then need to sand, i will. this piece has two coats on it and will need one more with maybe a light sand. because we will use it for eating, i am going to finish it off with a clear matte polyeurethane finish. and you want to know what else? i paint my furniture in the house(the garage is so cold and unfriendly). this table got painted right there where i plopped it. i put an old vinyl tablecloth underneath it and opened the window while i worked. you see, i try to make this as easy on myself as possible :) have a great weekend!

Your table looks amazing! and what a beautiful view you have to enjoy sitting at it.
after reading about your "painting habits" i laughed because it's as if you were describing me. ask my husband sometime. i have no time for the details. depending on the size of the project determines where i end up painting. i'm not into the 12 step plan either. the table is beautiful. that piece would have called my name as well. looks right at home with you.
I'd eat breakfast there any day!!!
What a difference a coat of white paint makes. It looks great! I paint my furniture in the house too.
I love it! I too paint in my house. In my living room. I put a large piece of card board down. Who wants to paint in a dark cold garage? Not to mention mine is jam packed with my patio furniture and other misc. items for the cold winter! Love the table! Great detail on the legs.
The table looks so pretty. What a great find.
I paint in the house too. We still have 7 rooms to paint as well as a day bed and chairs and lots more. I'm more a white girl, not yellow!
Heres a few photos.

Love your style and blog.

This post just for you only :-)
That looks great! I am impressed with your non-procrastination! :)
I've been wanting to paint some big pieces of furniture for quite some time now but keep waiting for it to warm up so I can take them outside for the job.
Your table turned out so nice! I know of two other people who have that same table...must have been a pretty popular style of table.
I really like your table, but I think I'm in love with all of your windows. Seriously, that is great light you have in your house. And I'm all about great light! I would happily sit down to breakfast any day there.
You paint just the way I do. We won't tell the experts;-) I've found the matte polyurethane to be a great finish for durability. Your table looks great!!!
It looks fab-o! I love those chairs you have it paired with too. I've got so many painting projects around the house but it's so cold. I was thinking of working in the basement but it's freezing down there too. Maybe it will warm up next month!
It looks so much better painted! Just beautiful Beth! :o)
It's so pretty! And I, too, paint inside the house...or else nothing would ever get painted!
Great job!
Table looks good..
Love how the table turned out! You paint inside the house? Hmmm...my garage is full of projects to be painted, but I was waiting for warmer weather...maybe I will bring in a chandelier and give it a go...I only hope I paint as neatly as you do!
Dang, you're fast! On any project, from start to finish, it takes me weeks! I would have to dream about it, debate about color, which shade, if I really should paint it or leave the wood, and then carve out at least 6 solid hours (which I never have) so nothing ever gets done around my house. I SO ADMIRE you!
Very, very cool.
I paint in the house too so I can watch my cooking shows while I transform. And I never sand.
