homework
my daughter loves doing her homework. and i love that she loves it. she takes kindergarten very seriously. it is evident. i drop her off every morning with her hair neatly pulled back, her face scrubbed, her clothes washed. and when i go to pick her up, i don't always recognize her in the carpool line. her hair is all over the place, she has a chocolate pudding mustache, and her shirt is polka dotted with magic marker and fruit juice. i try not to let her see my jaw drop at times, it is truly a remarkable metamorphosis. i have asked other mothers if they are having similar experiences with their children and they don't seem to understand. so why is my child such a big mess? i just have to believe it's her effort. a+, wouldn't you say?

Well I think in kindergarten.... work=fun=mess. So she definitely gets an A!
I know exactly what you are talking about! My kids were the same way when they were little.
She is having fun, no time for being fussy. Good for her. She has plenty of time to worry about the fussy stuff. Do I spy pink walls? Is that your daughter's room? Love it. I recently painted a hallway pink and its just too pink. Hard to find a good pink. Oh, and I love the little jars of "goodies."
yes, pink walls! it was her room, but now it is the "art" room. i gave her the guest room so we could have a room to be creative! i love odessa pink by benjamin moore. it has enough tan in it for it to be very soft on your eyes. :)
Cute post.
Very sweet post...I have a daughter just like that. I learned that her messiest days were her most fun ones! The ones that she felt the most creative and was allowed to embrace that!
Oh well...most of it comes out in the wash!
She is a cutie, just like her mom!
Hugs,
Sue
one can of odessa pink by ben moore sold! thanks beth!
She's looking very studious over there. Wouldn't it be great if her love of homework followed her throughout her school career!!
She looks adorable in the picture,so very serious about her work, and I bet she looks adorable even when she is a mess after school!
Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I have a kindergartener and a third grader and they both do it. Sigh. They'll leave the house in their little pigtails and bows and freshly ironed clothes and come home looking like they just let every kid in school wipe their hands on them. What grosses me out even more is the thought that Molly (age 8) doesn't wash her hands before lunch and there is seriously NO telling where they've been. I sent antibacterial wipes and gel in backpacks and lunch boxes, but who knows if they get used. Pudding ain't nothin'!
I'm obsessed with your blog, BTW. I might start stalking you.
The stalking thing was a joke.
Just wanted to add that, because you just never know in the online world!
I was just checking the comments about the pink on the walls. :-) We're about to move and I'm looking for a good pink for my daughter's room.
My little girl just started preschool, but she's also very serious about her craft projects. So adorable!
Your daughter sounds like she participates with all of her being rather than the children who stand on the sideline watching. She probably puts her all into every moment and squeezes the joy out of it.
It sounds like every one of my 20 kindergarteners! And if they weren't messy, what were they doing all day!!! Just like a best loved stuffed animal or blanky, it should look "loved".
I hit return before I got a chance to post my blog or name! So the I'm the K. teacher that left the above comment and in your YTR class.
