little buddies

my grandfather and my son have this special little bond. i don't know how it happened, but they make each other laugh like mischevious school friends. i love this picture of the two of them.

remember when i wrote that i cried at the aj/b&d concert? this is why:

they played this song. i had heard it before, but it hit me out of nowhere that night. i sobbed a good healthy sob, then i did the boot scootin' boogie :)

Okay...you have me boo-hooing! It reminds me of my Grandpa playing with my daughter before he died--I saw a side of him that I never saw before. He was content with his life and loved the little children. He reminded me of Jesus.

How timely that you should write about your son and his grandfather. My husband's father died last night and my 16 year old son is having a hard time. He won't talk to us about it but I have heard him in his room crying. My favorite picture of the two of them was taken when my son was about 4 sitting in his grandfathers lap driving a tractor. You just can't beat the bond between grandparents and grandchildren.

What a sweet, sweet picture.

I don't know Brooks & Dunn, but I did click on your link and watched the video and listened to the song. It's easy to see why you find it so touching.

What a blessing you have with your grandparents still in your life, able to really get to know (and buddy up with) your children. Thanks for sharing.

My grandmother and my daughter share a unique bond as well. She is her first grandchild (and only one until last week!) so for nearly 5 years she has been such a joy to my gram. They both look forward to their visits, and my grandmother loves to play with Play-doh or color with her. It's very sweet, just like your photo!

sle - i'm so sorry for your loss and i'm sorry that your son is in so much pain. i understand how sometimes you just need to be alone to grieve, but it is important to talk too. it is a long process when you love someone so much. i pray God's peace for all of you. bethy
