competitive carts
over the fourth of july we will be in a golf cart parade. for many years i have watched this parade and wanted to participate, but i had never signed us up until now. the problem is, it isn't just a parade, it is a contest. and i have to win or i don't want to play. and i can't believe i am saying that out loud. usually, i hide my competitive thoughts. but there it is...i like to win. now let me be clear, there are certain things i don't mind losing...cards, monopoly, tennis...lots of things actually. but then there are the things that i must win...like golf cart decorating contests. so i am trying to think outside of the box. obviously, being in a fourth of july parade, the cart should have a fourth of july theme, but does that mean it has to have red white and blue and flags and such? i don't think so, and i think it would probably be better if it didn't. but what is it going to be? can you help me? please help me win...i've just got to win... :)

Hey Bethy! How about decorating with Wendy Addison glass glitter stars? Or...take a look at ebay #Item number: 130122721000. Shabby statue of libertysign. Could be an inspiration (you know I love Ebay!)
I say decorate it like George Washingtons boat, make it look like a boat!
Or what about a sailboat? Red White and Blue?
A red, white and blue sand pail and shovel?
Good luck, if I was voting I would vote for you to WIN!
well, I def. think Lady Liberty (the statue of libery) should be at the helm :)
oh my goodness, you people are brilliant! i am so glad i asked. i am totally inspired. thank you very much :)
we just finished my daughter's wagon for our w.c. handy blues festival parade in the morning. you are welcome to see our creation at livesimplysothatwemaysimplylive.blogspot.com tomorrow. we are doing charlotte's web (my daughter and niece are wilbur and templeton and the wagon is charlotte)i realized that there are so many fun things you can do with spray paint, silver stuff, aluminum foil and aluminum foil tape. a space shuttle or lady liberty would be nice for your parade.
You could also try an Americana theme of a different nature:
How about an old-fashioned Good Humor truck?
Or a covered wagon?
Or a New York taxi?
the old fashioned good humor truck is a really cute idea.
also, check out this website for the lady liberty idea. you, or that cute little girl of yours could sport a glitter crown and torch...

I think the color of your cart looks like one of those pretty beetle bugs. Give her sparkly wings, antenne, and some great eyes (oh, a crown is a possibility!).
Good luck!
It's nice to know there are fellow girls out there who admit they are competitive and like to win. I'm am highly competitive. I don't think it's a bad thing. It just makes me try my best. I'm thinking of some ideas for you and will get back to you on that. :o)
Love your blog. It is so calming to come here. My house is full of stuff and color, yours refreshes me.
I agree with thirty-one trendy, Wendy Addison glass glitter stars and a Lady Liberty theme.
