hidden talent
the electrician didn't show up last week, so my husband hung our foyer light on sunday. i didn't know he was capable of such things. the light had been in the attic for over a year. it was the foyer light in our previous home. i am glad to have it back with us.

It's beautiful! Husbands can surprise us sometimes. :o)
Beautiful. Did you know thar Le Garage in Redondo Beach sells linen white chain covers, complete with velcro, so you can whip them off to wash them? They used to be in Victoria Magazine alot. Their store is beautiful, if you ever get a chance visit their store.
This is lovely. Can you share how it is that you happened to leave your other house and move into this one? Is this the one that you love?
oooh meg, such a great question. :) yes, this is the house that i love. my husband and i had been watching it for many years. we used to drive by it and i would wonder if the people who lived in it loved it like i did. we built a house, a big one with a basement and we lived there for 8 months when this one came on the market. we never felt the big house was "home." we bought this without hesitation, we just "knew." and we were right. we love it. it isn't as big and in many ways it doesn't make as much sense as the other one, but i have found i need to have a certain feeling about a house before i buy it, and i will never build again. :)
le garage? i will look into it. love the name!
This fixture is lovely and just right for the space. I'm sorry they stopped publishing Victoria magazine - found a whole box of them at a gargage sale last year and I was just in heaven!
That's a great story, Cottage B. Clearly the house was meant to be yours. I had a feeling that you felt strongly about it. I think you have to really love your house to start up a house blog (!), nevermind all the fun projects you have going on, and how you appreciate all the little things...like how the sun looks coming in through your windows in the morning. I'm glad you are so happy.
