gift grace

have you ever read that you get a year to give a couple their wedding gift? if you go to a birthday party do you get a nice extension like that too? i think it is kind of a weird rule, but i need it. i am always late with such things. and i believe the grace period was invented for people like me. i made the card above for my friend. she celebrated her 40th in september. i just took this picture a few minutes ago. yup, the card is here. i'm thinking the birthday party rule might be less than the wedding rule, say, by maybe six months? so by my calculations, i have one month and 24 days to get it into her hands. hmmm, if i can get it to her in a week or so, well then that would be kind of like its early! :)

(oh, and i know you can't tell from the picture, but the little slips of paper in the pocket tell her 40 reasons why i love her.)

If it was me, I would feel lucky to receive a handmade card that pretty, no matter how late it was!

I have heard of the 1 year wedding rule; I've also heard this is a bunch of malarkey. I like to think it's okay for much the same reasons as you expressed.

I like the idea of getting cards all the time, so I think your friend will be thrilled with your thoughtful and beautiful creation no matter if it's a tad late or not!

Hey just found your blog on my search for new ones to visit and that card is so beautiful, you should be so proud and I'm sure your friend won't mind it being late when it is so thoughtfully made!

Btw I'd never heard of the wedding rule but I think I like it - let's just say 3 of my friends didn't get 2006's Christmas presents until a few weeks ago *blushes* alongside their 2007 pressies hehe

What a beautiful gift! I agrre an extension is a great idea...I am always late with gifts and often give 1/2 birthday gifts...My friend turned 40 in August so I only have a few weeks to finish my project for her.

I am one of those people who is happy with a handmade card over any store-bought present...so even a late one would be something I would keep forever!

Oh...I am so jealous. I turned 40 in November and I did not get ant beautiful cards like that. Perfection takes time. So, I think you're okay on the grace period. She'll be touched and honored whenever she gets it. i am certain of that. You oooze creativity!
